The Pampers Baby on Board Competition is held each year in conjunction with MamaMagic The Baby Expo and gives one mom-to-be the fantastic opportunity to win a complete pregnancy starter pack with great prizes from our generous sponsors! We caught up with last year’s winner, Sthembile Nene, to find out what the prize meant to her and how her life has changed since winning the Pampers Baby on Board Competition.
- What made you decide to enter the Pampers Baby On Board competition last year?
When I attended The Baby Expo last year, I was approached by a friendly lady as I entered the venue. She told me about the competition and I did not see a reason not to participate as I was going to visit those stalls anyway.
- What were your expectations when you entered the competition and filled in the forms?
I had no expectations; I liked the idea of just taking a chance.
- Who came along with you to the expo on the day you were chosen?
My husband was with me at the expo.
- Walk us through what happened minutes before you discovered that you were the winner…
I was the last person to receive my pack of nappies and as I looked on, I was expecting someone to start screaming that they were the winner, but nothing was happening. I was confused for a while because I just did not expect to be the winner. I was ready to congratulate someone else.
- How has winning this competition changed your life?
I am still benefitting from the win from a year ago. I still can’t find the words to explain what winning meant to me. We saved a lot of money because of this prize and we are grateful every day because financially this was a miracle to our family! My daughter was blessed with gifts that I would have not been able to afford, so the Baby on Board competition eased a great financial load off our shoulders.
- What element of the prize has helped you the most?
The nappies and wipes were a great relief, but I can’t forget the great nursery from Stoke – it was a dream come true!
- A year later, how does the prize still affect your life?
I am still grateful every time I walk into my daughter’s room. I still don’t believe that I was so blessed.
- Do you have any advice for expectant mothers who are coming to the expo in hopes to win this year?
To this year’s moms-to-be: you can only win if you enter! 😊 I did not expect to win – I was truly taking a chance, but I was happy to play along. It was great fun!
