A Guide For Dummies
You’ve decided to give your baby a dummy and now need to figure out how to go about it – from choosing the right one to ensuring your baby uses it correctly, and when to give it to your baby and take it away. Luckily, help is on hand from the experts!
Dummies are also referred to as soothers and pacifiers because of their ability to help calm a crying baby. This can make them an incredibly valuable item for parents, for obvious reasons. However, this also raises a caution that they do not become a substitute for parenting.

- to help soothe them tosleep
- to help them stay asleep when disturbed
- to calm them if frightened
to keep them quiet (after you have tried all other approaches)
